Black Oak Dining Table, Night stands and Wall Art

The Story Behind The Piece
This beautiful slab of Black Oak was sourced from pasture land just outside of Spring, TX. Since the slab was originally much larger than the client needed for their dining room table, they chose to use all of the cutoffs from the slab to build into a nightstand, a floating bedside shelf and piece of wall art. The rippling effect in this slab's wood grain is called chatoyance, usually caused by growth stress (in this case most likely, wind). The wood was finished with a hard wax oil and ceramic coating to further capture the beauty in this wood grain.
